Elva Turns Speed Racer in More More More

Elva began filming for her music video More More More last night. The music video, costing NT$5m, took 16 days to prepare and was produced in Beijing, Hong Kong and Taiwan. In addition, world wushu champion Wu Jin was roped in as wushu instructor and Rihanna and Ciara's dance instructor Luam was invited to teach Elva the dance moves.

Elva is gamed and ready, as she showed off her air-bound spinning kick and transformed herself into a speed racer. The much anticipated album, Three-faced Elva, since her return to EMI Virgin will be open for pre-order on 2 June and released in Asia on 15 June. Diva Elva is set to take the music scene by storm!
After her leg injury, Elva never gave up. Wearing protective gear around her ankle, she began practising the dance and wushu movements for the music video. Not only does she seek to challenge herself, she also wants to offer something new to her fans. Not only did she specially flew to Hong Kong and Beijing to learn wushu from Wu Jin, she also invited Rihanna's dance instructor to choreograph the dance for More More More. Just inviting Luam cost NT$1m to the company.
She reminded herself to learn the moves within a given time, which put her under huge psychological and physical pressure. She had to endure energy drain, bruises and even sea-sickness. Wu Jin was all praise for Elva: "She has done what a normal Chinese could not have done!" His praise helped to push Elva on and she continued to endure the pain. "Because I have been dancing for many years, so my movements are more forceful than normal girls. I did not expect that dancing could help me on my wushu practice!". In addition, Wu Jin also commended her that she has 3 "Nots" - Not afraid of pain, Not afraid of hardship and Not afraid of dodging. His praises made Elva's day, causing her to break into laughter.
Elva revealed that she took 2 years to write the lyrics for More More More, which involved many amendments because there was a huge change in the theme. In the end, she was glad that the theme became her favourite sports-inspired theme, so she could write according to her thoughts. As she had always wished to race, she wrote the lyrics around a speed racer and this theme was transferred to the music video. In the video, Elva became a striking female racer, wearing a punk-styled outfit and torn vintage jeans. She had danced so vigorously that her jeans continue to tear. She joked: "If the jeans continue to tear, it would become a pair of shorts!"
Elva had a solo dance while holding a leather whip. When asked if she had ever whipped anyone, she laughed: "I've never hit a real person. I only hit my Nini and Gemini." She said that the inspiration for the music video came from the award-winning movie, The Banquet (夜宴). Seeing someone spinning in mid-air, she immediately told her manager "It's so beautiful! That's what I want!" Even the movie, 300, was part of her inspirations. She recently fell in love with violence aesthetics, which is the reason why there are the solo leather whip dance and the wushu component.
Her manager, Chen Xiang Jun (陳香君), said that the video is one that took the longest time ever to shoot. Dance practice - 7 days, wushu practice - 7 days, filming in Beijing - 1 day, filming in Taiwan - 1 day. Preparations took place in Beijing, Hong Kong and Taiwan and even invited a U.S. dance instructor, so time is money. More More More took 16 days to complete and cost NT$5m, making it the grandest production in recent years and worth the wait of many Elva fans.
Elva's latest album, Three-faced Elva (三面夏娃), will be officially released in Asia on 15 June. Pre-order starts 2 June at all music stores. On 2 June, there would be an Asia New Hits Showcase held in Taiwan, where fans can preview the latest songs of her album and watch the world premiere of her music video Impulsive (冲动).
