Elva Bags Chanel and Hermes

Elva is quick-handed when buying branded stuff, with Hermes and Chanel being her favourite. She has bought 7 Hermes bag in 3 years. Even though her mum chided her that she is becoming a “thousand arms Buddha”, Elva emphasised that her mum also like Birkin bags, because they are classics and worth collecting. She counted that she has 5 Birkins and 2 Kelly bags, which cost her NT$1,950,000 in total. But now, the market price has risen to NT$2,132,000, which is a pretty good investment. Including her 6 Chanel bags worth NT$584,600, her total spending is at least NT$2.53m, and she exclaimed that it’s worth it!

Elva has been buying Birkins since 24 years old, and her first buy was the biggest size – the 40cm series. “In 2004 when I was in Paris, I thought to myself before entering the Hermes shop: if there is a Birkin on the shelf I would buy it. In the end, when I entered the store, I saw a bag which has been reserved, and I felt that I had spotted my dream bag, so I bought it immediately.”
Because she did not have to wait for 2 to 3 years to get the bag, with the low Euro exchange rate and the no refund policy, this blue-black Birkin only cost her NT$160,000. Now, the market price has risen to NT$310,700, so she had made a good investment. Even her dog Gemini had some indulgence “When I was in L.A. for a holiday, the hotel did not allow pets in, so I hid my dog inside the bag. She was very well behaved inside, and looked as if she was enjoying it.”

She even paired her Chanel with flip-flops. “Chanel gives me a feeling of a princess meets rock and roll. I love the contrast, and besides, it’s the person carrying the bag, not the other way round. No matter what bag you use, you have to bring out your own style.” Although she had spent close to NT$3m on these bags, she felt that it was worth it. Not only because of their appreciation, they can also be collected. “Hermes and Chanel classic bags would not go out of fashion. Now I can use it with my mum, next time I can pass it to my daughter.”
