Elva Pours Her Heart Out

Lianhe Wanbao conducted an interview with Elva when she came to Singapore to perform for the SPOP Hurray! Music Gala concert.

R: Over the past few years, your fans could only receive news about you over the net. From your injury, to rehabilitation, to recovery, to your mum's illness. Please tell your fans how's your emotional journey like over this past year.

E: It's a pity that for the last album, I could not promote my album in Singapore because of my injury and a lot of events were cancelled. So for this album, we had put in our best effort to produce it. At the same time, I hope to start my concert tour, so as to make up for the dances and songs from 1087, that you all had missed.

R: Has your leg fully recovered?

E: I can dance now, but I have to be careful in protecting my leg. I have learnt my lesson this time, not to push myself over the limit. My working hours have reduced so I have more rest time. After all, health is the most important.

R: Your album will be released in May, have you settled you record company?

E: Everything's settled. But I can reveal anything now. Everyone will know soon. There will be dance numbers in the new album, but there will be more ballads than 1087. We have received many touching ballads that will touch everyone. The fashion design will be different from 1087 too.

R: Any plans of shooting a movie?

E: Yes. Besides the new album and concert, shooting movie is part of the grand plan for the year. Since the last appearance in Infernal Affairs, i hope to collaborate with new people this time.

R: There were reports that you swore against your fortune and love life for your innocence regarding the scandal...

E: Because the newspapers dared me! The media now is different. Now, entertainment news are current affair news. That time the reporter asked me "Our editor asked if you dare to swear." If I did not do so at that time, he would think that I'm hiding something. So I agreed to it, and swore against those things that all women are afraid of happening.

R: You seems quite affected by the matter.

E: In a place where there's freedom of speech, there will be paparazzi. And because of media freedom, I hope that they would report something more professional about the entertainment industry, other than those "headlines" that they want. All we can do as singers are to produce quality music. But how does quality music create headlines? Do they want us to perform dangerous stunts? Isn't that turning us into a circus?

R: So the NT$1m reward is for...

E: I had discussed with my lawyer about this. Firstly, such person does not exist, so there will not be such photos. So the only way out is through legal means. Secondly, saying that I have to compensate my sponsors hundred times the contracted fees, is a form of a deterrence to those who wants to harm me, and also proves my innocence.

R: Do you believe in fortune telling and feng shui?

E: I choose to believe it than not.

R: Did you make any changes according to the feng shui master?

E: A little. But I can't do those highly difficult ones. I can do those easy ones, like moving my bed and arranging some stuff. Those highly difficult ones involves renovation or perform some exaggerated stunts.

R: Have you seen the

R: Have you met with the White Dragon King (白龙王)?

E: Yes I have, and he is cute. He would say don't rush it, you artistes are always so rash. The first time I met him was because of Infernal Affairs. That time, he went to bless the opening of the movie shoot. I was introduced to him by the movie producer. The first thing he said when he saw me was"Ah you. So stubborn!" I thought that he's just a jovial elder. But after visiting him a few times, I have a special feeling about it. So I take on a blessed heart after I have said my prayers.

R: What do you look out for in a guy?

E: I'm a little reliant emotionally. I need that guy to give me a complete sense of security. i don't like playing guessing or suspecting games, so I need someone whom I can rely on. At the same time, I need my personal space. If a guy's too sticky, I will be afraid. I'm beginning to admire mature men. Last time I used to like kiddish guys, but I'm turning towards mature ones.
