Elva Offered $3m Contract

A big shuffling has begun in the record industry. Rumours has it that ex EMI general manager Chen Ze Shan (陳澤杉) will be takin Jolin to Warner Music. On the other hand, Elva has bid farewell to Warner Music officially in her latest blog entry "It has come to an end. I thank Warner Music for the care in the past 2 years, for helping me grow up and become stronger..."

Confirming the news with Elva's manager, she revealed "Having worked with Warner Music during this period, a lot of changes has happened, and it's pretty worrying." Elva's contract with Warner Music has a lot of flexibility. After releasing her last album, 1087, she is a free person.

Sources said that EMI and SonyBMG has approached Elva, but Hong Kong media tycoon Lin Jian Yue (林建岳) has entered the competition with an attractive offer of cutting albums, holding concerts, plus having the lead roles in 3 movies. A NT$3m contract that hopes to push into the movie industry, to become an all-rounded artiste.

Faced with such rumours, her manager said "Yes, we had talks with a Hong Kong entertainment group." She emphasised that what Elva looks for in a record company is security, thinking, and most importantly sufficient resources. "A management contract is the most crucial part of career planning."

Elva's latest album will be released in May, with 2 more songs yet to be recorded. Her manager said that more news will be released in mid April.
