Dolce & Gabanna & Elva

Elva has let the cat out of her Dolce & Gabanna bag, as she was invited to the D&G Fashion Show during the Milan Fashion Week.

The event, held on 18 February, showcased various outfits from the D&G fall/winter 08/09 collection. As D&G's brand positioning has always been "young, creative, independent and music loving", they felt that Elva was the right choice to help promote their brand in Asia. The collaboration came at the right time when Elva was preparing for her next album, so she invited them to design her outfits for her upcoming album. When D&G main office in Italy received Elva's portfolio from D&G Asia, they were very impressed with her music and image. Soon, they invited her to their fashion show to meet her in person. Elva became the first Asian singer and artiste to be invited to this prestigious show in fashion.
Prior to the show, an excited foreign photographer said "beautiful, beautiful..." while taking photos of Elva, causing a brief commotion in the audience. Other photographers soon gathered around Elva to snap her pictures. In fact, the photographer who said Elva was beautiful was Vogue magazine's photographer and when Italy fashion website style.it initiated an interview with Elva, she felt extremely honoured.
"The show is fantastic, the models, the design, the music were great... and the runway models were Europe's current top models" Elva was delighted when she recognised many models from the fashion magazines that she had been reading had walked past her. "I'm very happy to be invited by D&G to this fashion show in Milan. Watching those familiar faces walked past me, it's definitely a visual treat for me!" The bell bottoms left the deepest impression for her. Made with different kinds of material and combined with a hippies head scarf, Elva hoped she can incorporate this look in her next album.
The outfit that Elva wore was from D&G fall 2008 collection and was specially designed for her. The designers felt that the soft pink material suited Elva's young look, with a romantic feeling of entering into early autumn. When asked if she had any romantic encounter in this fashion capital, Elva replied "All the male workers at the fashion show are as good-looking as professional models, but I was too shy to look at them in their eyes."

In the invitation list was Europe's top fashion photographer, Mario Testino, and Elva really admired him. He was also a friend of Kate Moss, who was also Elva's favourite model. Therefore, she hoped to introduced herself to Mario Testino, so that she could get to know Kate Moss!
After the runway show had eneded, Dolce asked Elva how she felt about D&G fall/winter 08/09 collection and she said "This runway show gave me a lot of inspiration for my next album." Dolce was very pleased and apologized to Elva for not taking good care of her because they were busy with the runway show.
D&G has uploaded the runway video and photos of invited guests to their website. Elva felt excited yet weird when she saw her name and photo on the European website. "I'm very happy to be invited by D&G to this runway show. This is a very special experience for me. I have lots of inspiration from this runway show, and I hope I can make use of them in my concert and album. Stay tune for more news!"
