Elva Records Beijing Olympics Countdown Theme Song

To commemorate the 1-year countdown to Beijing Olympics 2008, 133 artistes from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan joined hands to record the countdown theme song, We Are Ready.

On the morning of 29 July, Elva stepped out from the recording studio, feeling elated, because the recording for the theme song had ended. Her 12-hour journey from Taipei to Beijing for this recording was an arduous one. Despite the changing flights which caused her weariness, Elva put on a smile to greet everyone went straight to the recording studio after her make-up.

Elva's voice was crisp and melodious, and she improvised the chorus with another verse of her own. While filming the music video, she put in her best effort, synthesizing both her sleek moves and the music.

An excited Elva on the other side of the phone was in fact ill, having taken her gastric pills just before the interview. She sang her way to perfection with her determination, rejecting the producer's numerous requests to pause for a break. She said with an optimistic tone "Although it's tiring being in this industry, a singer has to be flexible, learning to relax himself during crunch time."

When asked why she flew to Beijing despite her illness, she replied "When I first heard the song 'We Are Ready', I thought it was a pretty 'Olympic' kind of song. It makes me feel like I'm holding on to the Olympic torch proudly, clad with gold medals. The music arrangement gave me a sensation of being in a 10000 people crowd."
Elva ended the interview by saying "I love exercising, especially dancing. I'm happy to lend my voice to the recording of this theme song and to be part of the Olympics. Being so proud and honoured, I have to record this song regardless of my tiredness."
