Elva's Injury Results in $15 Miliion Loss

It's the least interesting Lunar New Year for Elva! Elva could only keep her mum company till the 2nd day of the New Year before flying off to the U.S. for 1 week treatment. Because of her leg injury, the estimated loss is expected to be $15 million!

Elva can't celebrate the New Year with her mum in her hometown, instead she had to pack her stuff for America. From her friend's recommendation, the doctor in U.S. had helped any athletes and dancers in their rehabilitation, so Elva can't wait to fly there and return fully recovered!

Elva publicist said that the U.S. medical institutions are very professional. There's one doctor to examine her leg and another one to help her with her rehabilitation. Sources revealed that her rehabilitation consist of simple exercises that will help to balance the weight on each of her leg, thus assisting her in walking. Elva is confident that she will recover very fast if she follow the instructions of her 2 doctors.

The reason Elva had injured so badly was because as a perfectionist Virgo, she want to do everything flawlessly. Last December, while filming her MV "代言人", she danced nonstop for 6 hours, causing one of her ligament to be torn and the other 2 to be wounded, thus sending her immediately to the hospital. During this 2 months, she had to wear a leg cast, bore great pain and she was crestfallen. Her record company cancelled all of her publicity events and even an endorsement that required her to walk around had to be given up to another artiste. Her publicity company said that because they can't accept any gigs, the estimated loss is at least $15 million.

Elva had no cash inflow, and she even had to pay for the U.S. treatment from her own pockets. So she hopes to recover quickly so as to relieve of her mum from her financial burden. Her record company also revealed that they put great attention into this album, unfortunately due to her injury, promotional activities had lapsed for 1 month, but they will arrange more publicity events to make up for it.

Why did Elva go to China for promotional events even though it hurts so badly?

She said the reason was simple, she did not want to disappoint her fans again. 3 years ago riots at her autograph session in Chengdu caused the event to be cancelled, therefore she promised that Chengdu will be part of her tour next time she goes to China. Because the autograph sessions did not involve the use of her leg, she felt that she had to attend them even with her leg injury. At her 1st stop in Chengdu, she signed autographs for 2400 fans. Even though she tried her best to sign as much as possible, she could only do so for 1/3 of the 6000 fans present due to time constraint. She hoped that the she will be able to repay the 'debt' when she fully recovers.

How much can she recover from the 1 week treatment in U.S.?

Her record company said conservatively that from what the doctors had estimated, it will take between 3- 6 months for full recovery, depending on how much effort she put in for her rehabilitation. Even though she had to fly to U.S. during the Lunar New Year, Elva still took time of to spend the eve and first 2 days of the New Year with her beloved Grandma and mother for reunion dinner. She also did not want to lose her friends because of her leg injury, so she would invite her friends over for dinner.

"Usually, I will spend my New Year at my hometown in Zhong Li (中坜). Because my grandma had a stroke, my mum brought her over to my house in Taipei to take care of her. Therefore this New Year was spent in Taipei," Elva related sadly. Everytime during the holidays, she can't wait to get out of her house to enjoy herself outside, now she just want to be a homely girl as she truly appreciate the real value of spending family time with her mum and grandma.

"I often feed my Grandma, watch TV with her and my uncle visits us frequently. I feel very warm and cozy with my family members around." Elva said that she will invite her "sisters" over to have a family and friends gathering, unfortunately she do not know how to play mahjong, so she can only spend time by playing poker cards.

Talking about her feelings, Elva joked that she felt very very unlucky when she first injured herself. She felt very bad having her mum to take care both her grandma and herself. But her friends revealed that Elva had grown up from this incident! Sources revealed that Elva had been
thinking positively and nurtured the habit of writing a blog. Everyday she would update her fans of her latest news and to prevent any spelling error, she would type out a draft copy before posting them to the Net.

Although she had not fully recover, Elva's feeling great. The first question that people will ask her is her leg injury when they first met her. She felt like a tape recorder because she had to repeatedly answer the same questions!

After her injury, Elva relied on clutches to move around. She used them to clear the way when its crowded and she used them to block the lift entrance while entering it. She did it so skilfully that she tell her friends to call her "Tie Guai Li" (铁拐李)! Elva had tried to walk with both of her legs while at home, but she felt great pain when she used too much strength. She described herself like a doll whose left leg had no strength and had forgotten how to walk. She discovered that her clutches was not only an object of reliance, but one of security. Even though the clutches were of great help, but she still hope to discard them quickly because it had caused her hands and right leg to become bigger and her left leg slimmer. She can't even see her ankle bone and so she felt like it's post-legcast symptoms!
